Disney's Lion King Is Coming to New Orleans!

The award-winning Broadway production is coming to New Orleans from Wednesday, March 14th to Sunday, April 15th. Featuring the Oscar-winning songs by Elton John and Tim Rice, The Lion King will be sure to be a big hit in the New Orleans area.

One of the most important questions when taking the Disney classic from the screen to the stage was how to convey the idea that all of the characters onstage are supposedly animals. The following interviews explore the techniques the producers used.

2012 - 2013 New Orleans Broadway Schedule Announced

The 2012 - 2013 season will see a number of award productions to the Mahalia Jackson Theater in New Orleans.

The season opens on October 30th, 2012 with a 25th anniversary production of Les Misérables, which will be in New Orleans from Oct. 30 - Nov. 4th.

Mary Poppins will float into the Crescent City from December 18th - 23rd for some Disney magic in time for the Christmas holidays.

The Jersey Boys will tell the story of Rock and Roll Hall of Famers the Four Seasons: Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi from Jan. 8th to the 27th in 2013.

Flashdance the Musical will bring 80's rock dance to the stage from February 26th to March 3rd, 2013.

The Million Dollar Quartet will take the audience into the recording studio for the one and only time rock and roll legends Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins worked together to create a slew of radio hits. The Quartet will be in New Orleans from April 16th to the 21st, 2013.

The smash hit musical Wicked will return to New Orleans from May 8th to June 2nd, 2013.
